About the club

History of the BMAC

The Bellarine Model Aircraft Club Inc. was born from within the Geelong Miniature Aircraft Association Inc. (GMAA). As the GMAA grew, its members were spread across the Geelong region and were drawn between two flying fields — the original Dogrocks field and the newer field at Shepherds Road, Mannerim.

In late 2010 the GMAA Committee resolved to hold a Special General Meeting to vote on dividing the club in two. In December 2010 that meeting voted in favour of the split.

Hence BMAC was born, and ten months later the club had forty active flying members. It remains open to new people wishing to join and enjoy the rewarding sport of flying model aircraft.

The City of Greater Geelong is growing rapidly and is now fortunate to have two viable model aircraft clubs offering this sport to the public.
