Learning to fly
So, you want to learn how to fly a radio controlled aircraft. You have come to the right place.
If you have never flown before and would like to find out more, the first thing to do is contact the Secretary and arrange a suitable time to meet someone at the flying field. To simply take a look, you are welcome to come out and watch.
There is generally a good turnout of members at the field on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Our flying field is closed on days of Total Fire Ban.
Before you rush out and buy a model, come out to the field and ask a few questions — it will save you time, money and disappointment.

Visit the field on a Tuesday, Thursday or Saturday. Members are happy to share their enthusiasm and answer questions.
Ask before you buy
All too often people buy a model that isn't suitable for learning. A high wing trainer is usually the right first aircraft.
Fly with an instructor
Instructors assist new members to learn safely — and dramatically reduce the risk of losing your new plane while learning.
Earn your Bronze Wings
Bronze Wings are the minimum qualification recognising that you can safely fly your RC aircraft unassisted.
